Ex: a local home inspector met us at a couple of potential flips to discuss what big red flags you should keep an eye out for when purchasing

Ex: a local lender met with us to discuss what he was seeing from his perspective with raising rates and discussed what he's seeing his investor clients doing to stay competitive in a shifting market

The introduction meetings are geared TOWARD new investors or those

curious about what it takes to be a real estate investor. 

Some of the topics covered are: the risk of real estate, how much money it takes to get started, time commitments,

expected returns, dealing with tenants, choosing property management companies, and many more.

During other meetings, we will be discussing specific re investing topics on a deeper level.

Maya Hermelin

After studying abroad in college, my eyes were opened to the possibilities of living a more nomadic life. When I discovered the Financial Independence Retire Early movement and saw how normal people were able to become work optional early in life, aka their investments covered their expenses. I became obsessed and learned how real estate was the most stable and quickest way to change your financial situation, which is when I purchased my first duplex. My portfolio now consists of 3 multi family homes, totalling 7 rental units. I'm very excited to continue to scale and see where real estate can take me!

My investment journey started in 2014 when I bought a bank-owned property and through a pseudo "house hack" strategy, lived in the house and did a full renovation, with the help of my family, until 2018 when I sold for a profit. Since then, I've gained my investment partner, who also happens to be my husband, Joe, and together we have owned 5 properties in and out of state. We currently hold 4 homes - as my strategy changed from a fix and flip / house hacking plan to a hold, rent and again equity strategy as my portfolio and income grew. Two of our homes are long term rentals, one is a short to mid term rental in a tourist location, and the 4th is our primary residence, which was purchased as a leap of faith fixer upper and has turned into a huge equity asset for us. We also recently acquired a half acre of  buildable land - because, in the wise words of Gary Keller and Luke Bryan, "buy dirt". Our goals, like most investors, are centered around passive income and building wealth through real estate for our young family - as well as a desire to change the stigma around landlords and property management and be the best we can be in those areas. As a team, I focus on acquisition, locations, tenant management and marketing and Joe manages our financials and cash flow prospects. We love to educate and are always open books on investing!
